Hi to everyone out there in Slugland. We're back for
2 days between playing Victoria and leaving for Saskatchewan. We played at the
bar in the Ingraham Hotel, Victoria, BC on Saturday, (August 18). Apparently
this bar sells more beer than any other bar on the island not featuring exotic
dancers… We've played here before and it rocks! The management (thanks Carol!)
treats us very well…
The show opens with Terminal City. Near the end of
the song, Doug wanders out into the crowd, (where he spends half the night
usually), microphone in tow. He's met by, hmmm… how should I say it… one of
the more alcohol induced females in the crowd, before he even makes it off
the dance floor. Having plenty of people yet to insult, he hands her the microphone
stand (just the stand - no mic) and tells her to sing. She spends the rest
of this song and into the next trying to figure out why it's not working and
no one can hear her…
Midway through the show Doug decides to do a cover
of Mustang Sally and have two members of the audience sing it. Fine. Except
he gets a man to sing the female part and a woman to sing the male lead. On
stage of course.
Doug calls Eewww! back onstage to sing Makin' it Work
at the end of a two and a half hour show and that just about wraps it up.
The alcohol induced female from the beginning of the show? She makes it right
to the end, but I think she probably needed a cab to take her home.
See you here again after we get back from Saskatchewan!
Take care and keep on Sluggin'! Marc.
About five songs into the show, Doug is talking about
orgasms (imagine that), and a woman from the crowd says, “Eewww!”. So of course
Doug completely ignores that. NOT!!! For the rest of the night she is referred
to as 'Eewww!' and frequently picked on… “Well, have you ever had one?”… “…and
you didn't like it, or what?”
