New Year's Eve, Dec. 31, 2002 - The Center For the Arts, Regina, Saskatchewan:
Happy New Year to all the Slugfans everywhere! A little confusion from promoters to band to website chick to website and back again with this gig... it says The Pump on the site... that's because we played The Pump last time we were in Regina and Mark, (part owner of the Pump) is putting this gig together... doesn't seem to be a problem however as approximately 2300 people find their way to The Center For the Arts... this is a great venue... a little confusing at times and a bit hard to find your way around, but worth it...
There are 6 bands tonight... 3 country bands downstairs (where they belong) and 3 rock acts upstairs... also there's a techno room off to the side where a DJ spins the latest for them that likes that stuff... the Slugs are ringing in the New Year upstairs after a great set by a band called 'Wonderland', who, if you haven't seen them, do an entire night's worth of one-hit wonders - songs you haven't heard in years - well worth checking out and a great idea for a band... 'Men Without Shame' are on after the New Years celebration is well in hand already... our set seems to be over in minutes... I have to admit, I had no idea there were so many nice looking women in Regina... wow... all dressed up for the occasion and doing Regina proud...
I don't know what the temperature is outside, but I hear that's it's warm for this time of year... hahahaha... that's a good one... a bit of a shock for me, as just over one day ago I was walking on the beach in San Diego... from shorts and t-shirts to gloves and scarves... anyway, the next day, hangovers intact and doing fine thank you, we're shuttled back to the airport and back to Vancouver... another year looked after... check us out at the Commodore next, January 11th, 2003! Cya! Marc.
