August 8th, 2002 - PemHo, Pemberton Hotel, Pemberton, BC:
This is one of those gigs that I love... small, hot, close and intense... the stage is just big enough for Chris and his drums... the rest of us set up on the floor, beside and in front of him...
Sandy - the manager - meets us as we arrive, and she's amazing! They don't book too many recording acts here... and she's determined that we have a great time in Pemberton... she sections off the entire lounge section of the restaurant for our dressing room, and anything we need is there almost before we ask for it, even to the extent of switching the background music to whatever satellite station we wish...

We have a few problems in soundcheck, with the sound system, which is quite small... one of the amps keeps shutting down, but Mike Dinger (soundman for this gig), gets it happening before we go on somehow... I don't know the details, but it doesn't shut down for the entire night after whatever he did... like I said, there's not much room here, but we manage to have almost everyone in the room dancing, whether they can make it to the dance floor or not... a great night in a new club for us - we'll come back anytime!

Also, if you like it hot... Pemberton is consistently one of the hottest places in BC, sometimes in all of Canada... a few days before writing this, it is 35 degrees... Ouch! We're playing the Peachfest in Penticton next...

until then...
Marc.
