April 10th, 2002 - Soundgarden, Lethbridge, Alberta
Second night on this swing and the second time at this club in just over 5 months The Soundgarden and Jeff (manager), always treat us great! Some of the best food after the show at this gig the club is pretty much full - not sure if it is sold out, but it must be close this club also has one of the best sounding stages on this swing - Jim, the monitor guy, is on top of it - thanks Jim, great job!
It's a fair distance to the stage from the back kitchen area (read: dressing
room), though
quite a job for Doug and his crutches
it seems that
just before we left Vancouver, Doug was playing racquetball for high stakes
(a 40 ounce bottle of JD)
anyway, the other guy, Leipzig, hits one of
those high ceiling shots to get Doug out of center court, and as Doug is climbing
the wall to reach for it, he loses his footing and lands hard on both knees
ouch!
nothing broken luckily, but he missed the shot
and the bottle
so he's confined to a stool onstage for most of this show, though he does manage
a few steps into the audience to better insult the people there
the emcee
who introduces us (I can't remember his name, sorry), is sitting right in front
of the stage, and of course he's a prime target
Doug pulls up a chair
and sits beside him, then makes him sing the lead in Tomcat Prowl
this
guy is embarrassed enough already, but it's probably nothing compared to how
he feels after Doug makes him stand and shake his ass, then slap it, like Cameron
Diaz in Charlie's Angels
perhaps he didn't see the movie
it didn't
remind me of Cameron Diaz at all
...and Jim, the monitor guy, looks so much like Ozzy Osbourne that Doug has to bring him to center stage as well and point this out to everyone I think this gig takes the prize for the most autograph signings after the show as well
from here we move on to Camrose, Alberta
Cya next time!
Marc.
