The following is a review submitted to the Doug and the Slugs Bulletin Board - it was so good, we just had to devote a page to it. Thanks Larry!

Place: Red's Rec Room, West Edmonton Mall, Edmonton, Alberta,
Canada,

Time: Last night sometime after 8:00 P.M.

Setting: A large room inside a bowling alley? Under the legs
of HUGE television? O.K. It's true, I was there and saw it
with my own 2 eyes.

A heavy set, yet fine looking "young" man, slowly walked {with
the aid of croutches cuz he hurt his knees when he fell off his
bike} to a stool at center stage. The music started and I
recognized the song. Terminal City by Doug and The Slugs. And
that guy on crutches looked a lot like Doug Bennett, which was
good because it confirmed for me that I was in the right venue,
as that is who I had bought a ticket to see.

The band was tight as always, Chinatown Calculation, Let the
Jelly Roll, Find out, Must Be the Rain {great tune}, Viagra,
o.k., tight but not perfect, see they ended Day By Day and the
next song on the list was Who Knows How. Well Chris started to
play Love Shines and Marc went into Powerlines, Chris being the
rookie, lost the battle, I think it was the "look" Doug gave
him. Nonetheless, they did both songs and did them well I might
{but don't need too} add. Too Bad came next, I was looking
forward to the twist contest, but they went straight into Real Enough.
I think it had something to do with "the knees".

Chris
Marc
(oh man! Lookit those shoes!)
Jay
Elio

Chris' drum clinic was next and as always the crowd went nuts with the
cheers. The show continued with Got To Be Monday, Tomcat Prowl
and Making It Work, all mixed together with a guy from the crowd
mumbling the blues on stage then the female singer of the
opening act, Crush, showing that boy how the blues are to be
sung, YOU GO SISTER YEAH!!!!!

Ahem,, sorry, anyway after the chant F*** YOU DOUG,
started by Doug himself, there was an "I'll
show you mine if you show me yours moment", to which Doug
politely told her to call his agent as he makes all Doug's deals.
Elio and Jay were thier very best as always. The light were as
good as house lighting gets and sound was pretty damn fine too,
not that I would know as I was only about 30 feet from the stage.

Anyway, it was a great show and good time was had by all, except
when we all got back to the hotel and found out that there was
no room service at 3 A.M. and all that was on T.V. was the paid ad
campaign for lonely guys, where the H*** do they find these
girls?????

Till next time.

Peace Out

Larry
